Meet staff member Gonzalo Hidalgo

Gonzalo Hidalgo

Gonzalo Hidalgo joined the ECE Business Office as a grants and contract specialist in October. Hidalgo brings a background in finance in university settings, banking, and real estate.

He has professional experience in the areas of management, reporting, budgeting, process reengineering, cost optimization, and project management.

Most recently, Hidalgo worked at JP Morgan Chase as a manager of financial controls and analysis. Prior to that, he worked as a senior project coordinator for the Instituto de Seguridad del Trabajo, where he was responsible for staff training, streamlining of medical records systems, workflow, and loyalty programs.

Hidalgo was a financial planning and analysis director for the office of the vice chancellor for research at his alma mater, Universidad Andres Bello in Santiago, Chile. He centralized budgets and financial reports, and centralized the management of grant funding, building a team of 20 finance professionals. He was responsible for a budget of approximately $6 million.

Hidalgo earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his MBA in business administration from Andres Bello University.

Hidalgo is happy to return to academia, and to join UIC. He will process grants and contracts for the department along with Itzel Moreno.
