He honored with ‘Outstanding Engineer’ award

Assistant Professor Lina He was selected as the 2022 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power and Energy Society’s Chicago Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award winner.

Up to two awards are presented annually to engineers who provide outstanding technical contributions, leadership, and education to the power and energy profession, and who have served IEEE and/or the Power and Energy Society. The award is open to society members.

He learned of her win in April. She was nominated by peers and was recognized in the “more experienced” category, which includes those who graduated with their professional degrees at least 15 years ago.

He runs the Power Energy Innovation Laboratory at UIC and has been conducting transformative research in renewable energy integration, and has made significant contributions to dynamic modeling, grid-edge control, and intelligent protection of power electronics-based power systems. She has been recognized as a leader in renewable energy integration technologies, especially for wind and solar integration, in both industry and academia.
