Department adds new research engineering assistant

UIC alumnus Ricardo Ramirez joined ECE as a research engineering assistant this semester. He will update labs, work with professors to implement new ideas for their labs, and help teaching assistants.
Ramirez worked in the lab as an undergraduate student under Anthony Flowers, the director of the electronics instructional laboratories, and is happy to be returning to UIC.
Ramirez attended Elgin Community College and graduated from UIC in 2022 with a degree in electrical and computer engineering. After graduation, he accepted a position with Texas Instruments as a field applications engineer. While he says he learned a lot in that role, Ramirez missed the hands-on, technical nature of working in a lab.
In addition to his main duties, Ramirez will help Flowers run workshops offered by the department to teach students additional skills, such as soldering.
“I’m excited about the role because I like learning new things,” Ramirez said. “It will be cool to help teach students something new.”
You can find Ramirez in the ECE lab spaces.
