Design automation for quantum computing

Persenter: Prabhat Misha, University of Florida, Gainesville

Abstract: Quantum technologies offer promising advantages over classical counterparts in a variety of tasks, including faster computation, secure communication, and high-precision sensors. This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of both fundamental concepts and recent advances in design automation of quantum computing from the perspective of computer scientists and computer engineers. Specifically, this talk will cover various design automation tools to map quantum algorithms on quantum computers, including quantum compilation, control generation, quantum state preparation, quantum error correction, quantum machine learning, quantum measurement, and validation of quantum systems.

Speaker bio: Prabhat Mishra is a professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. His research interests include embedded systems, hardware security, formal verification, system-on-chip validation, explainable AI, and quantum computing. He has published nine books, 37 book chapters, 26 patents, and more than 250 research articles in premier international journals and conferences. His research has been recognized by several awards including the NSF CAREER Award, IBM Faculty Award, three best paper awards, eleven best paper nominations, and EDAA Outstanding Dissertation Award. He is an IEEE Fellow, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.
